It is with great sadness that we announce the news that GLORIA ACE passed away on Monday.
Together with her husband, Neil, they were both LIFE MEMBERS of the Club, and, GLORIA our only female Life Member.
Neil joined the Club in 1979 and it didn’t take him long to throw himself head long into major roles on the committee including a significant stint as president in the years where our 18s and 20s team dominated the competition in the early 80s.
Of course, behind every good man there is a GREAT woman. GLORIA worked hard and stood proud with Neil for many years nurturing not only her sons who played for the Club, but many other young players as well. Neil & Gloria often provided a bit of extra spending money for some of the students by employing them to pick pumpkins and melons on their farm in Giru.
Life Membership is an enormous honour, not bestowed lightly. It was an honour well deserved and of which GLORIA was immensely proud.
The FUGS extend our deepest, heartfelt condolences to Neil and all the members of the ACE family.
Details of the funeral will be advised in due course.
God Bless GLORIA and may she rest in peace. Yet another ‘SAINT’ to enter the gates of heaven.
