After 26 arduous rounds, we have a clear outright winner in the 2014 FUGS NRL Tipping …

THE BLUE AND WHITE V avoided a choke in the final rounds, for which Tom Waterhouse was only offering $1.10, and came out triumphant.  Once again confirming the old saying “you don’t need to know much about rugby league to win a tipping competition”.  And another old saying  .. “the cheque’s in the mail”.

WOODY had a blistering final round to be outright second place.  He’s never been described as ‘blistering’ before, and that in itself is worth more than the prize money. He just edged out SAINT11 who probably ummmed and arrred before making his final tips, but obviously eventually ummmed too many times instead of arrring.  INNISFAIL DELUGE gave it every shot in the last 6 rounds of the season coming from way back to end up 4th, but in the end some of those shots were blanks and he just fell short of the prizes.  As did THE FAMOUS FRENCH HALF BACK in 5th spot, who is now mulling over his croissants with jambon and fromage and saying to himself “SACREBLEU!”

BALLBOY had an admirable season and will be better for the run in 2015, as will the remaining top teners in STEVIE STEVONSON, BAD MOJO, MITCHO and JACKSBACK.

Of the others  ….   TROTTY is determined not to stop resting until he wins this competition. FUGGLEYS will now delay his cosmetic surgery as he had budgeted this comps prize money to fund his nose job. CLICHÉ said “I will live to fight another day”, “it is only in defeat that we learn determination”, “I have lived long enough to make many mistakes and I hope I will live much longer to correct them.”    Ole Cliché!

MRS EAGLE did not soar has high as she would have liked, but she did get a lot higher than MR EAGLE.   COBBER CORN lives on the other side of the world and appears equally as far removed from reality if he ever thinks he’ll win this comp by picking the Tigers each week. CLMUZZA has been out to lunch for the last 10 rounds and has redirected all his calls to his out of office assistant.

APRIL likes to live on the edge, but she fell off it about half way through the season and has been laying at the bottom ever since.

There’s always next season    …  The Saint
